Industrial Park
One or more industrial estates will be established, where private companies, including local entrepreneurs, will set up their manufacturing/ processing/ collection/ packaging bases. Public funding for provision of basic infrastructure and anemities like roads, electricity, water, sanitation facilities and space to construct warehouses, will be availed. Primary production within the Tana River Delta Green Heartland will supply raw materials to support several cluster specific activities covering meat, dairy, fruit, vegetables, natural raw materials and fish processing. These activities will include:
- Processing and preserving of meat;
- Processing and preserving of fish, crustaceans, and shellfish;
- Processing and preserving of fruit and vegetables;
- Manufacture of vegetable and animal oils and fats;
- Manufacture of dairy products;
- Manufacture of soft drinks, production of bottled water;
- Tanning and dressing of leather, manufacture of leather products;
- Manufacture of wood products of wood, and
- Manufacture of pharmaceuticals, medicinal, chemical, and botanical products.
These products will be sold under the distinct Tana River Delta Green Heart brand identity.
A pilot Green Heart Industrial Estate will be established close to Garsen where favourable conditions exist, including proximity to road and communication networks, electricity (as well as solar potential), water supply and a resident labour force.
